The Marshalltown High School Class of 1987, in honor of classmate Craig Brown and Michelle (Johnson, MHS ’92) Brown, has established a new Corey Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund with the MCC Foundation.
“As a community of alumni, we prayed for Corey’s safe return together and were shocked and heartbroken at the end of the search,” said Carol (Edel) Geil, MHS Class of ’87 and MCC Foundation Director. “Together, we sought a way to make a gesture to honor Corey’s memory and show Craig and Michelle how much they mean to us, no matter how far geographically our group has moved or how long it has been since we last spoke.”
Although the fund has been initiated by the Class of 1987, donations are welcomed from anyone who wishes to honor Corey’s memory in this way.
Corey’s father, Craig Brown, approved of the scholarship fund, and further plans for its use will be developed with the Browns in the future.
Tax-deductible gifts to the Corey Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund can be made online at www.marshalltowncommunitycollegefoundation.org/donations with Corey Brown in the “Directed To” box. Checks can be directed to the MCC Foundation, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown, Iowa 50158. Contact Carol Geil at (641) 844-5747 for more information.
